Test-Fail Status on N2000 series switch

Hello,

I have had these switches in place for several months now.  We have VOIP phones that the switches provide power to and today there were reports of phones with no power.  After troubleshooting the problem, it looks like most of the ports do not provide power.   Here is the output of show power inline.  Noticed total power is 0 watts and the status on all of the switch ports are Test-Fail. I only copied the first 11 ports but all 48 are all the same.  I have verified that some of these ports do provide power but majority do not.  Any suggestions?

There were no changes made to this switch prior to this issue.  The current firmware of the switch is 6.1.0.6.

Thanks for any assistance anyone can give me.

Hi,

Have you done a reload on the switch? What does show power inline gigabitethernet return? Try to run “power inline detection dot13af” from global configuration mode on a few interfaces and see if it brings them up. Updating the firmware may also help. http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=20CPW&fileId=3438916739&osCode=NAA&productCode=networking-n2000-series&languageCode=EN&categoryId=NI

I just ran into this issue with Avaya phones and my brand new N1548p switches. A firmware update from 6.2.2.2 to 6.3.1.13 resolved the issue. It appears to be an issue with inline power negotiation on older firmware versions.
