Hi Daniel, if I logically move the lag to ports 5 -8, with ports 1 - 4 shutdown on both switches and not LAG members, I get bad results. Very occasionally 1 or 2 of ports 5 - 7 will come up but never 8.
Link - 1Gbps (auto) - there is not a setting for force speed 1000 full duplex
Port -schedule - Unscheduled
Isolation - disabled
I am having to troubleshoot this remotely with a helper moving cables so takes a while and I have to check each port to port connection after.
Suspecting ports 5 -8 just not good I junked the LAG completely.
I configured ports 1 - 8 on both switches as simple access ports on vlan 2 and left them all shut.
If I bring up one port at a time ports 5 - 8 just do not go into forwarding mode. I also check with a ping to one of the blades if port does go forwarding.
That link takes me to a whitepaper for MLAG, not instructions to apply firmware.
I don't see a link for 2.0.0.46 on the Dell site. I can see a google link showing it was there but not any longer. Was it pulled? 1.0.0.62 is showing as the latest. Any ideas?

The switch replacement cured the problem. Thanks for the help anyway.

It's a Meraki MS320-48
meraki.cisco.com/.../ms320-48
The MS series supports aggregating 8 ports
docs.meraki.com/.../Switch+Ports
Each Meraki port is set to
-Enabled
RSTP - Enabled
STP guard - disabled
Link - 1Gbps (auto) - there is not a setting for force speed 1000 full duplex
Port -schedule - Unscheduled
Isolation - disabled

We have swapped known good cables and ports, rebooted both switches but fault stays with 5 - 8 on the Dell.
I think it may be time for a switch swap?

My answer lost detail of the Meraki port at the top. It was also set to trunk with vlan 1.
