What's wrong with this interface range? (Invalid input)

This is driving me nuts!  I can't figure out what is wrong with this range command.

field-switch(conf)#interface range gi 1/3-4, gi 2/3-4
                                            ^
% Error: Invalid input at "^" marker.

The interfaces do all exist.

field-switch(conf)#int gi 1/3
field-switch(conf-if-gi-1/3)#int gi 1/4
field-switch(conf-if-gi-1/4)#int gi 2/3
field-switch(conf-if-gi-2/3)#int gi 2/4
field-switch(conf-if-gi-2/4)#

Try field-switch(conf)#interface range gi 1/3 - 1/4, gi 2/3 – 2/4

It's an S3048-ON (actually a stacked pair), running FTOS 9.10(0.1).
