bsd-username secret encrypt problem

hi

command bsd-username sercret , is visible in show running-config. (like Passw0rd as I configured)

1) how to encrypt the secret? with some algorithm like sha256 or something.

2) what is 'bsd-username' command for? is it ok to erase? don't know why this command is configured, but this device is in service.
