dynamic addresse table issue with powerconnect 5548 and multiple vlan
Hi,
We've 4 powerconnect 5548 stacking together with hdmi link.
On this stack, we have set multiple vlan (with different subnet). Each vlan is pulinked with a external switch or router/gateway.
Our problem is that each vlan unicast is flooded over all port of the same vlan (it don't cross the vlan).
It's appear that the dynamic address table is not populated with external mac/ip
We don't use STP, not doing inter vlan routing and i think we don't have asymmetric route.
here's the running config:
no spanning-tree
vlan database
vlan 11-14,21-25,101-112,114-122,200-204
exit

Dell support have proceed the remplacement of the master-unit.
Since the issue hasn't come back.
But i don't know if it is due to the exchange or the reboot and rebuild of the entire stack ....
Have you try to switch the master unit from unit1 to unit2 ? Or to reboot the stack ?

We have plug server on this stack step by step (in a period of 1or 2 months). So we don't see immediatly this issue.
For information, i have an another issue with the stack, the traffic is slow except for the server connect on the unit1. I think this is due to the hdmi cable (poor quality and i wonder if it is not hdmi 1.4). I'm waiting for hdmi 1.3a certified cable.
I don't know if the two issue is related ? Maybe a bad hdmi stack cable can corrupt the adress table ....

stack has been running fine for over a month, when they were initially set up.

Did this happen immediately or has the switch been performing well for some time and then this issue occured?

Please provide output of "show system".
Only Dell HDMI cables are tested, so other cables from electronics stores may not work well.

What is the sysuptime? I think the command "show system" will display this. Is sysuptime what you expect given that the stack has been running for over a month?
