error connection with spanninjg tree
Hello ,
we have recently configure Vlan for all swichs and Spanning tree is running , suddenly we obtaine the error message like :
Jul 20 08:17:23 vox-switch20-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(721) 6158738 %% Gi1/0/3 is transitioned from the Forwarding state to the Blocking state in instance 0
>Jul 20 08:17:23 vox-switch20-1 TRAPMGR[trapTask]: traputil.c(721) 6158739 %% Gi1/0/3 is transitioned from the Learning state to the Forwarding state in instance 0
The Gi1/0/3 interface is only interface connected with own router .
Thanks for advices .
Best regards

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your reply.
>As devices are added and removed from the network, it is not uncommon to see topology changes occur. This can cause ports to briefly transition like you see here.
OK. We almost never make any change but logs appears all the time.
I will try to provide more informations about our situation.
We use 4 stacked N1548P named 'vox-switch20'
It is uplinked to our router on port Gi1/0/3 and 2 other switches (NetGear GS724TPS) on ports Gi1/0/33 and Gi1/0/35.
Here is a graphic representation:
router
|
|
vox-switch20 (stack)
| |
| |
netgear netgear
As you can see our network topology doesn't have any loop. We considered disabling STP globally but it seems to be not recommended.
All switches were configured with RSTP default values until we noticed that STP root election was randomly happening. So we gave 'vox-switch20' priority 4096 to make it root.
Since this new priority set on 'vox-switch20', these logs appeared and we have over 80K occurences per day:

We tried to activate stp portfast on Gi1/0/3 but it didn't help.
Why this port (uplink to router) is flooding with STP transitions?
Gi1/0/3 is configured as access port, is this okay?
Did we miss a configuration: mstp? guard loop? bpdu filter?
Here is some configuration that might help to understand:

Hi,
Ok we will try to disable stp on this port after the weekend.
Meanwhile we checked the bpdu with your command:

Hi Daniel ,
After disabling stp on port gi1/0/3 the problem seems to be solved.
We continue to monitor to make sure nothing else break.
We have just question about setting up the Vlans in our topologie , specificly the uplink between router and switch root (Gi 1/0/3) , so this interface must be configured with Trunking Mode && make sub-interfaces for all vlans in router ??
Many thanks for your advices and your help
