Belkin N1 Wireless Modem - have network connection but no internet - help please!!!

I have spent probably in excess of 4 hours on the phone with Belkin with no resolve to this issue.  I just purchased a brand new Dell Inpiron 6400 along with a Belkin N1 Wireless modem model# F5D8231-4  version 3000.  The notebook has Windows Vista Home Premium and my desktop has windows xp.  I followed everything step by step and was able to connect to my network wirelessly, but I cannot get through to the internet.  I have shut off all firewalls, security, everything and still cannot get through.  But yet if I wire the laptop to the router, I can get internet access.  My desktop also has no problem getting on the net via a wire.  Also I can log into my neighbors unsecured wireless network and surf away.  Has anyone had a similar problem or have any idea on what I can do??:smileysad::smileysad::smileysad:

I have a similar problem. The wifi icon shows a strong connection but to local only. If I restart the computer the internet icon appears and all is well until It goes into hibernation. When I wake it up the internet icon is gone but ithe wifi connection shows a strong signal for local only.  I must restart the system again, etc.
 
I have a Inspiron 6400 with Vista.

Same problem. Zyxel Modem, Belkin Wireless Router, Inspiron 5101 w/Dell Wireless. All working perfectly. 
 
Configuring in Windows is a NIGHTMARE. Spent hours with Belking. Eventually got intermittent connection to the Internet (on/off oscillation every 2-10 seconds). The network signal is "excellent" and consistent, but can't maintain the data stream. Kept losing settings and having to repeat everything from the beginning. For example, the "Wireless" tab in the Network Configuration Program kept disappearing whenever I would reboot!!!! AAAAaaaarrrrggghhh!.
 
Belkin have decided the problem lies with the Dell utility. It is not allowing Microsoft to take control of configuring the router. I have no confidence now that I can get this thing to work. Has anyone experienced the same and resolved it?
 
(Please keep it light on techie-talk). I'm not new to all of this, but I am only an average user).

Finally resolved the problem!!  Ordered a new modem!!  Belkin level 3 technical support e-mailed me a firmware update and I was able to access the internet intermittently but still had a number of problems.  Just received my new modem today and it is working great even without updating the firmware. Obviously the old modem was faulty and destined for the refurbished shelf.  The Belkin N1 when it works the way it should is actually a very fast modem.  Hopefully no more problems going forward.
