Cardbus controller not working on Latitude D610 after fresh XP Install
My Texas Instruments PCI 6515 Cardbus controller (comes standard with Latitude D-610) is not showing up under Device Manager, and I cannot get my internal Mini-PCI wireless card, or my external PCMCIA wireless to work. I can however get the ethernet and a USB wireless card to work.
Do the Mini-PCI wireless card and an external PCMCIA wireless card require the Texas Instruments PCI 6515 Cardbus driver to be installed correctly in order for them to work?
Should Texas Instruments PCI 6515 Cardbus controller show up under Devices? I’ve looked on other Dell laptops (Inspiron 5150 & Latitude D830) and they both show the CardBus controller/driver in the “PCMCIA Adapters” category of the Devices listing.
I have installed the latest Cardbus chipset driver (provided at the Dell website) and all the other Dell supplied drivers in the order specified at the Dell website link below.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get the Cardbus driver install correctly? I don't get any error messages when I install the CardBus driver, but I do get the following Device Manager error message when I install the Mini-PCI wireless card or my external PCMCIA wireless card: “This device cannot start [code 10]”, “Adapter state not in registry”.

Thanks for responding. I've done a full re-install of OS & drivers as per these instructions (and others) to no avail.

With some drivers such as your mini-PCI wireless card and your PCMCIA wireless card, the drivers need to be installed FIRST before the hardware is installed.
You really should read the instructions. And both most definitely need drivers; the PCMCIA wireless is not a Dell item so you need to locate the drivers for that
mini-PCI has nothing to do with the Cardbus
