D600, Conexant Modem, and pcAnywhere with XP Pro

It seems the modem will neither pickup when a customer calls for us to remote control them, nor will the customer's end pick up when we call them for the hosting, however with other modems physically attached the pcAnywhere works fine. The remote control files are okay, the installation is stable and works with pure TCP/IP using LAN/WAN.

Any other similar stories, situations?

I have the same issue with D600 laptops with Conexant modems and PC Anywhere.

When attempting to remote to another PCanywhere computer the modem will answer but handshake will not complete. After 1 minute it disconects.

Other computers connect just fine. I have tried the following:

Tried two separate Dell D600 machines.

Tried PCanywhere 10.0 and 11.0

Tried different OS Windows 2000 and Windows XP

Success:

Hooked up an external 3com modem and it connected fine (this defeats purpose of having laptop).

Tried other computers (toshiba) with different modems than conexant and it connects fine.

Please help.
