DELL Demension 2400

I have never in my life had so much trouble trying to get drivers for a system as I have had trying to get an ethernet driver for this Dell Demension 2400! I had to install a new hard drive and WinXP OS on it and I cannot get online  in order to directly update/download the drivers, even if I could find the right one to begin with, and when I try to get the downloads using another computer they won't download at all!! I will never buy another Dell!!!

I can't deny that Dell seems to try to make things difficult on occasion, but downloading the drivers is not usually that difficult.

You must ignore the download manager; that program requires Net Framework 3.5 to work properly, and sometimes doesn't work right even then.  Go back to the computer you are using to download drivers, go to the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.  If you find the Dell Downloads Manager, remove it.  Delete all your cookies and go to the downloads page for the Dimension 2400:  Dimension 2400 Drivers.  Click the category of the driver you need, click on the driver name to get to its description, and click the download button you will find under the description.  When the choice for using the download manager appears, ignore it and choose instead the option to download direct using your web browser.  You can get only one file at a time this way, but the resulting download should get through uncorrupted.

The drivers need to be installed in this order:  Intel Chipset, Video Adapter, Network Interface, Sound, and the Modem (if you have one).  It is imperative that the chipset driver be the first driver installed as the operating system will have trouble identifying the on-board devices otherwise.
