Dell Dimension 4550 - setting up wifi network

Hi,

I have a Dell Dimension 4550. I have a D-Link 655 router and want to set up a wireless network in my home, using my PC. I also have a laptop that I would like to connect to my wireless network, once I get up and running.

I know how to install my router (which I haven't done yet) but I am not sure if I can set up a wireless network on my Dell Dimension or not.

Can someone help?

Thanks,

Debbie

Debbie,

Setup should look like...

Wall > ISP modem/router > wireless router(if any) > wired/wireless

You can plug the desktop into the wireless router. If you use a wireless printer, the desktop can still print to the wireless printer. Some people have also bought wireless adapter for their desktop or USB wireless adapters.

If you use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11, I would make a new SSID to make connecting everything easier.

Here is the setup with pictures. At the bottom, you will not need to uninstall the wireless adpater.
