Dell Inspiron N 5110 LAN driver not getting updated
I have a Dell Inspiron N 5110. I was not using its LAN port for a while and now when I try to connect to the internet using LAN, the driver does not show in Network Adaptors. Also, I can not install it from the driver CD received with the laptop or directly from the Dell website.
I have tried almost all available options on the net regarding this issue, but I can not fix it.
Please help!

Hi,
Are you receiving an error when trying to install that driver? If so, what does it say?
Here is the product support page for the N5110. If you can access it wirelessly you may want to try running the diagnostics on that page to see if it can find a hardware issue.
Realtek, the maker of the LAN network card in that system, has a diagnostic utility that you can download. You may want to try that to see if it can find any hardware issues with the connection.
Let me know if you're able to run diagnostics on that network interface and whether you're getting any errors. I'll see if I can find any other information for you to try.

Hello Todd
I could run the Realtek Diagnotic utility and it has 4 drivers listed in the left column. However, it does not list realtek ethernet driver.
Please help!
Thanks

So the NIC is seen in BIOS, the diagnostics all seem to think the hardware is fine, but for some reason Windows won't acknowledge it. Does that sound like a correct summation?
When you physically plug in a network cable from your router do you see the data lights on the NIC start to blink and/or stay lit?
With the cable inserted into the NIC (and assuming you see the data lights on or blinking), power down your router for about a minute, and then power it back up. See if Windows then will recognize the NIC.
If that doesn't work then try shutting down your system with the NIC connected to the cable as above, and reboot the router (power down for 1 minute). Then once the router is FULLY loaded back up and running, start up the system.
Hopefully one of these will cause Windows to recognize there is a NIC in the system.
Let me know how it goes.
