How do I get Dell Inspiron 9300 wireless driver to work?

My hard drive died on my Dell Inspiron 9300 and I've got everything back loaded and working but the internet. I can't get the wireless to work at all. I installed the wireless driver from the dell site and later when I got the start up disks loaded the wireless driver from the start up disks, but have run into the same problem. The driver installs fine and it starts picking up wireless networks, but if I try to connect or enter a wireless password, it won't type in the text box and just beeps at me when I type. Please tell me I'm doing something stupid and this is an easy fix. I'm frustrated and out of ideas.
