Inspiron 9300 not connecting to any network
I have not yet confirmed that this is a hardware issue but I'm pretty sure it is. I was suspecting that it was and issue with SP3 or a driver issue however it is doing the same thing always now. It will turn on and detect wireless networks but when I go to connect the connection box simply stays on "waiting for the network" then just stops. No faults or warnings. This happens with any network.
I stopped using the wireless a few months ago when it would randomly disconnect for any network. The thing just would not stay connected. Just used LAN. I have tried several different drivers and even a complete image restore. It really does seem like a hardware issue. Now I can pick up a new card for pretty cheap but I just want to if this is a common problem.

Hi mexisurfer66,
Welcome to the Community.
I would suggest you to perform test on network card using Dell PC Diagnostics. Please click the link mentioned below to download Dell PC Diagnostics:

Also, let me know the wireless card and operating system installed on the computer so that I can provide you the latest driver.
Thanks & Regards

I am running XP. Completed the full diagnostic as well as the component on just the network card(s). The test on the wireless card was inconclusive as the wifi would not stay connected to the network. I just tried a clean wipe last night and still nothing. I reinstalled through Windows update the SP3 update and installed the latest driver from Intel's website ( version 9.0.4.39 dated 12/19/2007) still no dice. This is running it on the PROset agent and not Windows. The Windows agent still brings nothing new.
Basically what its doing is attempting to log onto the network I have here at the house. I also have another network (my Android Teather app). It sees both of the networks with full signal (full bars) however the diag test said it was only 20%. The bubble will pop up from the taskbar and say I am connected but not 10 sec later it will drop it.
Any of my other devices ( an HP Mini notebook, Kindle, and other phones) all see and connect to either on of these networks just fine. This problem statred a few moths back when it would just randomly drop the network. At that time there were no new updates ( driver or otherwise) that occured. Hense my belief that its hardware. HELP

Hi mexisurfer66,
Thank you for the reply.
As you mentioned the issue persists after installing the Operating System as well, I would suggest you network card replacement.
Thanks & Regards

OK so i just got a brand new WIFI card today in the mail and installed it and still the same problem. So I went to the next piece of hardware, the antenna. Opened up the screen case and everything looks OK (not that I know what exactly to look for). So I swaped the antenna plugs (moved the black to "MAIN" terminal and the black to "AUX" terminal.) We have a slight change. The signal does not seem to jump however it still cannot seem to lock on. The PROWireless client just says "Waiting for Authorization", the IP address thing, but never seems to get it. I am attempting the Dell DIAG again...
