G7 7588 Black Screen
Hello,
I am getting this laptop ready to gift to a family member. Wasn't thinking and rebooted and hit fn F8 to boot into the mode to restore to factory. Now I just ha a black screen and a lit up keyboard. When I turn it off and back on the caps lock comes on and then turns off but that's it.
Disconnected both power battery and mb batter but same thing.
Any help would be great,
Michael

@Sk1llet0100
Can you also try this???
Power-on and start tapping the " F12 " key.
Run the Diagnostics making note of any errors.
Post back with the results.
Best regards,

Ok did that. When doing the D method it does show colors so that works. I also tried the fn method and it that never did anything.
So the screen seems to work just not firing on when turning the laptop on.

Also, did the F12 tab, nothing...screen is black, no power to screen or at least turning on. Fans are on and keyboard is on.

@Sk1llet0100
You did disconnect the "Main" battery and the "CMOS CoinCell" battery???
Then hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds???

Yes, actually before that fans would not spin. Did the clear all and fans spin now. Screen just stays dark and keys light up. Checked all ribbons and everything is set as should be.
Before it went black the Dell splash screen showed a blue growing progress bar when booting up and then a reboot and that's when the issue happened.

Wow???
OK lets see:
Try removing the memory and see if you receive any power and battery-status light pattern???
2,3 No memory or RAM detected
2,4 Memory or RAM failure
2,5 Invalid memory installed
Did you try disconnecting the HDD/SSD and then power-on???
Sorry but without "ShotGunning" the laptop there's not much more you can try???
Regards,
U2
