Latitude E5500 and Wireless Zero Configuration Service

I just bought a new Latitude E5500. Every time I start the computer, Windows does not automatically connect to my Wifi connection seemingly because the Wireless Zero Configuration Service does not start automatically.

I have the Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-card and under the Advanced settings on it I have the setting called "manage wireless settings" set to "enabled". Still, the Wifi connection will not connect automatically.

Presently I am going in to Administrative Tools every time I log on and starting the Wireless Zero Configuration Service; then going to the Wireless Network Connection and selecting "Use Windows to Configure My Wireless Settings." The wireless then connects immediately.

Can someone please tell me how to get the Wireless Connection to connect without having to go through this tedious process every time I start my computer?

I just got a new Latitude E6500 and I have that problem as well.  I have had a few people look at the laptop and they cannot determine why the Wireless Configurator won't start;  even though it is set to Automatic.

you can't have windows manage your connection with the wlan utility. even dell knows it has problems. if you see my other post on this issue, dell even uninstalled it because they thought it was creating problems.

I have been wrestling with my wireless for about a month now. had dell log into it twice and verizon once. I ended up buying a linksys pcmcia card and setting it up. Where your help is when you go into services, disable the wlan utility, then set your wireless zero config to automatic. Then you can set the connection up.

The problem is most likely due to having more than one wireless manager trying to run the adapter. Do you have Dell Connection manager installed? Look in the Start All programs listing.

I thought I had disabled the start up of the DCP with CCleaner will check, again and keep you posted. Is this a known problem ?  The problem I am trying to fix is that they both keep dropping the internet connection.

Using Systernals Autoruns I found four different applications that run at startup.  Only two were services.  I "unchecked" all four and rebooted and the wireless connection started without any intervention.  I am running Windows 7 32bit on my test Latitude E5500.

Additional step.  I went into the DPC Connection Manager in Program Settings and unchecked WiFi in Available Technologies.  For personal preforance I also Checked WiFi under When LAN is Connected disable device radios.

How to start Wireless Zero Configuration using Vista/Windows 7

How can I disable wireless configuration services and enable the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration services

May help you with the wireless zero configuration.

Have heard people have issues with Dell Control Point. If it's not needed, the people uninstall it and let Windows control the connection.
