Networking a Printer

I own a Dell PC that runs on Windows XP and I have a Dell AIO 922 Printer. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron Laptop running Windows 7. I have been trying to network my printer but it tells me it is searching for Windows Updates but says there is no driver downloaded. I am not sure what I need to do in this situation. I went under my printers on my PC and checked sharing and it showed the drivers that are installed but only the Windows XP driver was installed. So do I need to download a Windows 7 driver on my PC for the printer. I'm sorry I'm just so confused on how to get this done. I hope I have explained my situation well enough.
