Problem with Wifi for my Dell Inspiron 15R - 5520.

Question

Hello,
I have been using a Dell Inspiron 15r - 5520 for the past 3 months. I have been experiencing problems with my wifi. I am getting very poor speed where as my mobile & friend's laptop / mobile are getting high speeds in my residence. I initially thought that there was a problem with my router but only recently found out that there is something wrong with the laptop ( Most of the time, I am not even able to see a YouTube video properly! ).
I even updated the driver but still it didn't help.
Please help me to fix this issue.

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER, if using XP, run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

Can you also run Network Interface and post that information, too.

I like channel 11 better but channels 1, 6 and 11 work best for most wireless devices.

Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.

Try these tweaks....

Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

(I have no confirmation on this but saw this in another thread) Disable Bluetooth on the Centrino 2230 and also set Bluetooth(R) AMP: Disabled.

Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.
