Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Service terminated unexpectedly error

Hi,

My system seems to be in a death loop, getting this message and shutting down over and over.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Siff,

See this.  The link to the patch for 32 bit WinXP is toward the bottom.

Hi,

My computer has been doing the same thing today. It tells me about the RPC, and to save all documents, it then gives me 1:00 to save all the open documents and log off. I don't know if that is the same thing it is doing to you, but I need some help!

                                                                                      Thanks

Thanks Paladin, that seems to have done the trick.

Yes, Piratesfan, that is the same error I was getting.

Best Regards,

tom19,

The patch will not remove the worm, just close the hole in WinXP.  Download the latest anti-virus definitions for your A/V software and run a full system scan.  You may also want to visit your A/V website to get their perspective on removal.

Just following up - yes so far this patch did the trick for me.  I'll take your advice about the comprehensive AV solution.

I keep getting the same message altho I have now: already downloaded the patch, already run the worm check(I didn't have it),and now have reloaded my operating system when it finally ground down to a halt. Before I wiped out my hard drive and reloaded I couldn'nt even get to msconfig or check my system resources. All I can do right now is type "shutdown -a" in "run" when the message appears-this keeps my computer from automatically rebooting but I want to get rid of it completely...any suggestions?
