cable problem- very frustrated
Hey-
my internet is very slow:
ok so i've been using an old Gateway with a Intel Pentium III processor running Windows XP. im using a RCA cable modem with a Netgear Router. im getting fast speeds on the gateway but the problem is when it comes to the Dell. My friend just gave his Dell, which is better than my gateway but the internet is horrible. I replaced my Gateway with the Dell but since it was running poorly I switched them back.
the Dell is a Dimension 2100 with a Celeron Processor running Windows XP Home Edition. when i launch internet explorer it begins loading the homepage but then it takes like five minutes then says "This page cannot be displayed" i know i have an internet connection because occasionally i will get connected to my homepage. but when i do the internet goes extremly slow. So i tweaked it and i've done everything i can think of. i even reinstalled windows. still no luck.
I called my ISP (comcast) and they said my modem is running perfectly. So obviously its the Dell.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

If so, it might be the router. I've found Netgear routers to be unreliable and only use Linksys ( Cisco ) routers.
