I have Netgear WNDR3800 AP running openwrt backfire 10.03.1
settings for the AP are:
mode:802.11 a+n
HT mode: 20 Mhz
Channel: 40 (5.200 GHz)
i tried several config alternatives - no joy
i updated the driver of the intel wifi card to the latest - no joy.
i tried to google for such or similar problem but i didnt find anything useful.
can anyone help plz ?

podhradsky,
The Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 is a single band adapter and works on the 2.4GHz band ONLY. It does have Bluetooth.

podhradsky,
Not exactly the answer you wanted to hear. You are correct, the adapter will not see any wireless connections using the 5.0GHz band, ONLY 2.4GHz. I have many wonder, because they think they have a wireless N adapter but when it's using dual streaming, they claim that it gets the faster speeds, making it a wireless N adapter.
You now know to be cautious in the future when purchasing anything wireless N. It also happens with wireless routers.
Take care,
Rick

I checked the available settings of the router again - the problem seems to be that the transmitter capable of using a+n mode is able to use only 5 GHz band (not also a 2.4 like I supposed). And because the centrino wireless card is only 2.4 GHz band capable like you said - it will never see the "second" transmitter of the router.
Thank you very much for help !

Ok - so when i configure the AP to operate at 802.11 a+n and in the centrinos settings I enable the 802.11n mode it should work...right ?

podhradsky,
Your wireless router a dual band? If not, then bring it down to Mixed mode. If a dual band, setip a podhradsky_G using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings then setup a podhradsky_N using similar settings.
