creating peer to peer (ad hoc) network

I have dell e6400 laptop and epson sx515W wifi printer and want them to talk to each other wirelessly.

So I am trying to set up wireless network:

control panel > network and sharing centre > set up a connection or network

select: set up a wireless ad hoc (computer-to computer) network; next; next;

network name: aabbcc
security type: no authentication

next;

I see Dell Control point pop up, shows Radio on then after a couple of seconds Radio off

and see message in set up : windows cannot creat network aabbcc (or similar)

Any idea as to why?

I have turned the printer on which is on the floor less than 2 m away but it made no different when printer was off.

I'm not familar with ad hoc networking - but I don't see where you configured the printers' network/adaptor to connect via ad hoc - it may set up by default for a regular network connection

configuring the printer is done once the network is set up - the printer is able to other networks (not mine) that are around here.

BUT ..... digging about with the help and FAQ; I cam across this:

hy are ad hoc networks not working?

This feature is not supported in the current release of the Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager.
It is slated for a later release of the connection manager software.

my version 1.2.0

guess what, my next question is where I get later version (dell website?) and do I install it "as is" or do I need to unistall my current version?  ARGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

02GF74,

Do you use the Dell ControlPoint Connection manager?

thaks for that - I had googled similar instructions.

from what I gather, my version of Dell ControlPoint Connection Manager does not support this; as in earlier post.
