looking for a good wireless router that is vonage compatible,any suggestions?

Before Katrina wiped us out, we had Vonage service at home, and I can tell you, it's great!  ]

Now, here's how you set it up.  Cable modem is at the head end of your cable.  From your cable modem, run a wire (called an ethernet cable that  looks a lot like a telephone wire, but with bigger connectors) to the "in" port on the back of your wireless router ( I had a linksys 4-port wireless G--very common and cheap at places like Best Buy or CompUSA)  There are 4 ports on the back of the router.  I plugged my desktop computer directly into one of the ports--that's the equivalent of being directly wired to the cable modem.

My laptop had a wireless card built in to it.  If yours doesn't, you can buy a wireless "adapter" that fits right into the side of the laptop to provide you with a radio link to your wireless router.  This will enable you to work from your laptop pretty much all over you house and perhaps outside, as well.

Vonage:  The vonage "box", I called it, had 3 connections.  1. power supply; 2. telephone wire (looks like and IS a telephone wire.) When you go outside and cut the cord to your wireline carrier  be sure you disconnect all the wires so there is no longer power in your in-house telephone network.  Then, connect the telephone cord from your Vonage "Box" to a telephone jack in your wall--this energizes all the jacks throughout your home.  Finally, connect an ethernet cord (looks like, but has bigger connectors than a, telephone cord) to one of the 4 ports on your router.  This connects Vonage to the internet.  Your Vonage "Box" comes with some instructions telling you how to start things up and get going.  You may have to go online to finalize everything, but you do not have to leave a computer running for Vonage to remain "on". 

We completely cut the cord with BellSouth when we signed up w/ Vonage, and found them to be pretty good.
