"Acquiring Network Address" message does not go away
I have an Inspiron 600m with an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection. when I try to connect to my home LAN, I am bale to connect, but the computer cannot acquire a network (IP) address. Said message continues to be displayed and will not change.
Also, when I click on "Repair" for my wireless connection under the Network Connections window, the repair cycle gets stuck at "Renewing your IP address.
Upon looking at the details of my connection, the IP address displayed is 0.0.0.0 and says that it is an "invalid network address."

Are you using the latest drivers?

If you are, I'd try re-installing the drivers.

Using a manual IP address will hot help solve the problem. Set if back to "Obtain an IP address automatically" on both the wireless and wired connection. Try manually resetting the winsock stack using the procedure on the following web page:

"Theoretically, could the problem be that the router being used is limiting the number of connections that it will allow, hence blocking my attempts to connect?" Yes, this could be causing the problem - but only the person that set up the router would know if it is set to limit the number of connections. Have you checked?
