8132F Firmware Upgrade
Hi all,
Yesterday evening we had downtime to upgrade the firmware on 2 PowerConnect 8132F's running an old 5.1 Firmware. The switches are stacked and used for an iSCSI network with another N4032 connected to both and setup with a LAG and port channel to each switch creating a triangle. This worked fine before any upgrades and has done for a few years.
We wanted too go to 6.3.2.7 so therefore had to do the intermediate step to 6.2.7.6 . The first firmware upgrade on the stack went to 6.2.7.6 and we proceeded with the second including needing to do the Bootcode and CPLD updates. We did the Bootcode update and then the CPLD on both members of the stack and verified that it worked with a show version.
However when running 6.3.2.7 while all management works via SSH and HTTPS the networking side of the switches don't seem to function at all. We are unable to ping on the network from Host NIC to Host NIC, Storage to Host or Storage NIC to storage NIC. As soon as we rebooted the switch to the backup firmware (6.2.7.6) all networking functionality returned immediately.
What could possibly cause the 6.3.2.7 Firmware to stop the switch working completely on all interfaces apart from management.
Thanks
Ben

Hi,
Can you try some of the other in between firmware versions? Were there any errors in the logs?

Hi Josh,
We can't easily try other firmware due to it taking our whole infrastructure offline if we do so.
The only error we saw for a console connection was a duplicate MAC address on the management interface as they weren't correctly rejoining as a stack but sorted that with a reboot at the same time.
Thanks
