There is an option in the boot menu for password recovery

Page 80 of the User Guide discusses the steps needed to recover the password.

You will need to be directly connected to the switch.

I'll try that, if I can get it to communicate with hyperterminal. This student really messed things up by getting in a hurry and not documenting anything. He can't even remember what IP he put in, and just closed everything out as it was initializing the new settings. Now we can't connect to it at all.
