Don't know for sure that it will fix this particular issue but you may want to consider upgrading to the latest firmware 6.3.1.8, which according to the Release Notes contains several dozen bug fixes over 6.2.0.5.  I see at least 4 or 5 memory issues that have been fixed (one is a memory leak issue) in the latest firmware.  You can get the 6.3.1.8 firmware updates here:

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/networking-n2000-series/drivers

Release Notes are also contained in the same firmware download and show a list of all bug fixes for each firmware release.  Hope this helps.

Is it normal to have very few available memory? from time to time the switch is not responding to pings.

We would try to upgrade and reboot the switch with that new code.

thank you.

I too have the same issue.  We have bought a number of these switches and I have updated them to the latest firmware using Dell Openmanage Network Manager but they all have high memory usage.  Is there something specific we should be doing with the config?

Any help would be mch appreciated.

Hi Daniel

In my case the switches are 1Gb port switches with very few traffic , all the ports are connected and not even reaching 10% of the bandwidth per port.

Could you tell me how much time would take upgrade a stack switch ? There is no information regarding the upgrade duration for a stack switch and would it be necessary to remove the stack from production during the upgrade?

thank you.

Thank you Daniel, we know we requiere a downtime during the upgrade, but we need to know how much time would it take this uprade (average  minutes/hours ) , we need to request a maintenance window and need to have this information for the approvals.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay in response.  We have seen high usage since deployment, two switches used for a DMZ  each in a different server room with a 10gb connection between them.  Both have 76% memory usage. They are both 24 port switches with only 8 ports used.  Indivisual port usage doesn't go above 2%.  Is there a way to see what is using the memory?

Regards

Many thanks.

switchdrvr seems to be using 7522668KB which is way above the rest. As per the below, do you think this is normal?
