Windows Network Load Balancing (NLB) on Dell PowerConnect 5524 VLAN routing

Hello guys,

I'm having a problem configuring NLB to work with a stack of 5524 switches.

NLB in multicast mode works OK and IP is accessible from within the same VLAN, but can't be reached from another VLAN. Servers are running on ESXi hosts, VLAN routing is done by the switch stack.

Server 1 IP - 10.0.0.101 /24

Server 2 IP - 10.0.0.102 /24

NLB IP - 10.0.0.103 /24

VLAN 100 IP - 10.0.0.1 /24

VLAN 200 IP - 10.0.1.1 /24

Client A IP - 10.0.0.x /24

Client B IP - 10.0.1.x /24

Client A can ping all the servers, NLB, VLAN IPs, and other clients.

Client B can ping everything on all VLANs except NLB address.

Please help.

I use NLB address and Multicast MAC

ARP address doesn't match IP interface port

or when port isn't specified as it's multicast and uses multiple ports:

I receive a message that ARP MAC address must be a unicast address

Hello,

we deployed new switches 2x S4128T-ON with VLT domain instead of old stacked Dell Powerconnect 6224, 3.0.0.8.

After deployement, Windows NLB cluster multicast IP wasn't  reachable anymore. Cluster is in VLAN 300, so I configured VLAN 300 with command: nlb-cluster "ip address" "mac address" interface port-channel20 (uplink to the switch with servers connected to it). After this command, Cluster IP is now reachable in VLAN 300, but not from any other VLANs.

S4128Ts are between sonicwall and any other switches.

S4128Ts are connected with port-channel20 (trunk mode) to N4032s stack (NLB cluster is physically connected on N4032s).

S4128Ts are connected to Sonicwall with port-channel12, which is in vlan 300 access mode.

S4128Ts are connected to Sonicwall with port-channel10, which is in vlan 100 access mode. From this vlan, NLB is inaccessible.

Gateways for vlan 300 and 100 subnets are on sonicwall. But Vlans on sonicwall arent defined, because ports are in access mode.
