Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 installation problems
Hello, I'm new to the "community" and blogging (is this considered blogging?).
I recently purchased Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 - Preferred. I read the issues with Vista 64-bit OS but also that this problem had been corrected. I followed the installation instructions, turned off my antivirus and then clicked to install the two software packages needed: Visual C++ Version 8.0 and PowerMic Microphone Drivers. I can't get the Visual C++ Version to install. Instead I get an error message stating: "Visual C++ Runtime for Dragon NaturallySpeaking is not supported on 64-bit OS and can not be installed."
I know that Nuance came out with a DNS 10.1 upgrade to fix the 64 OS problems, but I can't download it until I load the DNS 10...which I can't do because of this Visual C++ problem. Has anyone run into this and can provide a solution in very elementary terms? If anyone can provide some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know if this matters but I have a Dell XPS M1330 Laptop.
Thank-you
P.S. What are "Tags" listed at the bottom of this posting area? Thanks again!

no_techknowhow,
Can you change the installation to a different location? On 64-bit systems, I noticed on my daughters laptop, that you have a Program Files folder and a Program Files(64-bit) Folder. You can try installing it in the Program Files Folder.
You can also right click on the installation program, left click properties, and try changing the compatibility mode.
