Problem installing IEEE 1394 pci adapter card
I'm having trouble installing a 1394 pci card in my C521. Windows XP recognizes the card, loads a generic driver, but the card does not integrate properly (yellow exclamation mark in Hardware Profile). Have uninstalled and reinstalled the card several times, and other users have had good luck with the same product and same systems. HELP!

How did you "uninstall" the card? Uninstall the card in the Device Manager, then shutdown the PC, remove the Firewire card, restart the PC and then after Windows finishes initializing, shut down the PC, reinstall the card and power up and see if it will now install correctly.
How did you check that this card is compatible and running OK on other systems? We've seen many cases where a certain brand/model may or may not work on a certain model Dell. Also, the card you have may have a different rev level than cards others are using and that could also cause compatibility problems. Finally, the card you have may be defective.

I am having a problem with a PCI IEEE 1394 card I purchased on E-bay "PCI Firewire Controller Card 3 + 1 Ports (External x3 & Internal x1) - VIA VT6306" When I put the card in the PCI slot and hit the power button, the computer boots the dvd drive, cd drive then the power button turns from green to yellow and nothing else happens. The 4 indicator lights on the back are not lit either, Is the card defective?
