any idea why i'm getting a ac adapter not recognized error every time i plug in my charger...this is annoying!

Either the adapter is faulty, or the mainboard is faulty- if you're under warranty, call Dell. They'll send an adapter first. If that doesn't work, the system will need a new mainboard.
If you're out of warranty, the cost of an adapter ($50 or less) is far lower than the cost of a board repair ($150-200) or replacement ($350-500+).

If you don't see any green light on the ac adapter when you plug it, it going to be the ac adapter.. But if you see a green light, its the motherboard..
