3010, low profile, graphics card upgrade
Guys, I have an Optiplex 3010, Low profile PC (see here for a picture of it: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/514GKLyzR1L.jpg) , running Linux Mint at home. Recently I got a 4K monitor (2160p). Problem with the PC is its native graphics card supports maximum resolution of 1080x768. As a result, I'm thinking to upgrade the graphics card. My questions are: 1) Is is possible? The PC is 5 years old. It's a bit slow running Windows 10, but perfectly for Linux Mint. 2) Can someone recommend a few graphics cards that support 1920x1080 resolution for the PC? 3) Are there graphics cards that are capable of 3840x2160 resolution and are compatible with the PC? No you can't run hi res cards on the old computer. The 240w psu cannot handle cards like that. You have a monitor that is worth more than your computer! Best bet is to buy a new computer to make use of the great monitor. After all the computer is a 5 yr old business model that is slow. Put it on your holiday list!
Forgot to mention look at home computers with discrete video cards like the XPS not Optiplex business models
