After changing cpu to core i3 3240 1 and 3 error message.
Recently i tried to do some light gaming on my usff Optiplex 790 and upgraded my cpu.I booted it up after replacing and 1 and 3 lights were yellow and were error message.
No Events found!

Do a CMOS memory reset and see if that helps. With PC powered off and AC power disconnected locate the CR2032 battery on the motherboard. Remove the battery for at least 10 minutes. Reinstall, connect AC power and try.
If its still bad I would suspect the motherboard is bricked due to the new CPU installation.

Lights 1 and 3 is memory related. Reseat (with power off remove then reinstall) the memory as a first step.
This still could be related to the new CPU. You may have to reinstall the old CPU to troubleshoot.

Its the cpu issue. Can you please give me a reccomendation for a similar cpu to the core i3 3240 that is cheap and works with my Optiplex 790 usff

I put in the old cpu and It still shows the message.

Optiplex 790 Tech Guide has list of compatible 2nd gen. CPU's on pg. 12. It can't take 3rd gen.
