Best GPU for a Dell Optiplex 7010 DT?

That's the way I was starting out.

Had no choice but to learn & what was true in 20006-08 still holds water today. Dells are the least expensive computers to buy (used) & with the most features, also tough as nails. Like a built in TPM for your security, allowing the user to lock down drives, to keep prying eyes out. 

Have never had a Dell MB to go bad on me, not the first. It's super cool to get a well equipped Optiplex on eBay for $100-125. From sellers who doesn't price gouge, like add $80 more for 16GB of used RAM, HDD size upgrades past 250GB, etc. I don't mess with them. What I generally do, unless luck of and get the one of my dreams (like the Optiplex 780 for $105 at the time, 1TB HDD, Dell Radeon 7570 (1GB GDDR5) & Windows 7 Pro). Plus a remote app for the included one year warranty. The Windows 7 Pro is 10 Pro now & soon will be dual booting with Linux Mint 18.3, or 19. whatever new version to soon be released.

Keep up the good work in learning & most important, don't hesitate to ask questions here. A lot of collective experience, then there's the Rockstars, although one of them told me outright wrong on one PC.No big deal, maybe the member didn't know or had heard the same from someone else, called being human. We're not perfect, nor do we expect the same from those trying to learn. 

Over time, many things will become like making a cup of coffee. We all had to learn and in some respects, still are. Equipment changes (example being routers) & some are funky to work with. The main thing is learning is to do everything right the first time, saving you both time & money. Having a $5-6 wrist strap to prevent static transfer to the MB & other components is critical. You don't want to be working on a motherboard ungrounded, not the PC on a carpeted surface. Little things adds up.

Thank you Cat. So, as I was looking for power supplies I noticed that for what I need, I would prefer having one that is full modeler or semi is okay but not non modeler. Only thing, I know that the connection fits but for PSU itself, if its too small or too thin that it would move around, sliding, etc. Yeah, the only thing I don't like about the Dell is they have a lot of variation of a towers.

Right, when I used to work for a tech company, throughout the whole build its real cold cause these hardware needs to be cool and not in warm temperature, room temp is okay but we had to use esd stuff as well when handling, but sometimes I forget and I'm like just put it in and it still works, only a one time thing lol...

i purchased the 640t and it didn’t fit as my chassis is 4.2 inches width. Which gpu can you advise please? I would like a 2gb if possible? I also have a optiplex 7010

I have put a dataland rx560 4gb in one 7010 runs great and in another 7010 i put a dataland rx570 8gb. Didnt have to change the power supply in either

Do you think there would be any graphics card that would be compatible and run games such as fortnite, valorant, Destiny ect. if not should I consider getting a new PC.

I installed Asus GeForce GTX 1650 OC Low Profile 4GB GDDR5 in my Dell Optiplex 7010. It works fine, no problem with power supply or stability.
If temperature of GPU core is bellow 52 centigrade, then fun RPM is 0.  
This Asus is slightly longer, than allowed maximum according to Optiplex 7010 documentation. 
 
Old Crysis works fine, ultra graphics, 1920x1080 resolution, 4k possible, but amount of fps for 4k resolution is not impressive even for this old game. 

Wait am i able to use a Gt 1030 low profile 2g graphics card in my Dell optiplex 7010 PC or not? My psu is bellow 300 w thats why I am currious. Some say yes, others say no. I want an answer.

by personal experience, a gtx 1050ti will not work it will have the fans spinning but there will be no display. Your best bet would most likely be a gt 1030 or a gt 1010 which are very able cards

No.  Needs 365w or better PSU.  Plus it needs a 1x6-pin connector, which the 7010 DT doesn't have.

Max spec RAM for the 7010 DT is 16GB.  However, some users have used 32GB in it.

Max CPU for it is the i7-3770.  7010 is limited to 3rd gen.

Google your games' system requirements and see if the 7010 will meet those requirements.  You might be getting due for something a little newer, preferably an MT.
