Dell 3080 - installing 2280 M.2 NVME SSD
- Just a heads up on the small tower 3080. At first glance the fixing screw for a 2230/2280 M.2 module is provided, located in the 2230 position. However if you unscrew it to use it in the 2280 position, you will find the stand off already in place on the motherboard is not tall enough to allow the 2280 to be horizontal, and inserting the provided screw causes the 2280 to be bent into a curved shape! You need to fit another short height stand off into the existing standoff to fix the M.2 correctly. I've had a look at the parts list in the 3080 manual and can't see it referenced.

I have now worked it out!
The "standoff" that you move from the 2230 to the 2280 position has a cross head set of slots. If you look carefully however, it also has a tiny M2 threaded hole in it! You move this part, then the 2280 M.2 sits on top of this part, and then you fix the M.2 2280 card with an M2 screw into the middle of the cross head!

Thank you for staying connected. I'm Arjun, and I will be assisting you. I see that you are inquiring about how to fit an SSD and see that you have figured it out and got it resolved. Please let me know if I can be of any help further?
