Dell Optiplex 7020 smal form factor sound only from internal speaker

Hi  Sound only from internal speaker, when I plug external speakers to the green port on the rear all sound is muted. How do i disable internal speaker but without muting the external speakers. This must be so simple am I missing something obvious. Ps pc running Win 10 pro 64 bit with 16 gig of ram.  Powered speakers are ok tested on a known working machine and plugged into the green port on the rear of the micro tower. Speakers are not muted

This issue seems to be with certain Realtek drivers. We are a school district that has experienced this issue with all Latitude 3450's and Optiplex 7020 machines. Its the "Realtek audio xyz" under "sound video and game controllers" in device mananger. You have to roll back the driver, and if you cant use something like driver store explorer. The problem is that windows update will just put it back if you do this so if it does try again to roll it back. The microsoft basic driver for that device actually works. If it still does not let you roll it back go to "Group Policy>computer config>administrative templates>system>device installation>device installation restrictions>prevent installation of devices with these hardware ID's" and add the hardware ID of your realtek device, remove its driver again with driver store explorer (remember its the one under sound, video, and game controllers) and apply that group policy. this will stop windows update from putting the faulty driver back. I really wish microsoft/realtek would fix this. We have had to do this GPO fix in all of our images because it is such a problem.
