Disable Dell Audio on Optiplex 9020 MT
I have the tower version of the Optiplex 9020 and I use it as a media PC, mostly music playback using the 3.5mm jacks. I tried to disable the enhancements but once I close the audio control window, it automatically turns the enhancements back on. I just need an untouched audio signal because I use the EQ on my audio equipment itself, not software. My old Yamaha mixer has a USB input so that just bypassed the Dell Audio, but unfortunately the USB on my new mixer doesn't route to a channel, so I can't use it. I do find it would be useful with equipment that doesn't have EQ like laptop speakers or just speakers, but with top dollar amps and speakers, the enhancements sound like . How do I either uninstall Dell audio (Not the Realtek driver) or disable it permanently. I have Windows 10 Pro x64, an i7-4790, 16GB 1600MHZ DDR3, 128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. Thanks!

do you mean you want to turn off the built in speaker inside 9020MT? If yes it is simple. Just unplug the speaker connector cable on motherboard. not understanding what you mean by enhancements?

I was meaning to disable the Dell Audio software, it has different EQ and effects. It's called wavesmax or something like that. I can't uninstall it without uninstalling the Realtek driver (which I do not want to do).

If it is the Dell audio software, can you uninstall it (or disable it in device manager)? After restart Windows 10 should automatically look for what Microsoft thinks is the best driver for the audio codec of motherboard. The codec chip is made by Realtek. Chances are Windows 10 will download the “best” Realtek driver for it. So even though you might lose Realtek when uninstalling Dell audio, Win 10 should get it back for you. Afaik, Win 10 never downloads any Dell specific software automatically.

I think it is actually within the driver itself. Look in sound settings, see if you can select which "enhancements" to use or not.
In win 10, sound settings are unfortunately scattered all over the place, so try every option, like advanced, more settings, etc. Check anything that remotely has to do with sound, audio, etc. It's a pain, but you'll probably find what you need after lots of time poking around.
I have an older computer, and I can make all these selections for various audio enhancements. Most of them don't do much of anything anyway, but I only have a stereo pair of old amplified logitech speakers with sub woofer, nothing fancy.

Good point. Some of dell's 'special' software are thinly disguised booby traps, and they are seldom/never updated after the sale is made.
Best to uninstall all that rubbish and try plain vanilla windows drivers. You can always go back to Ma Dell if need be, and accept the limitations.

To turn off (and "permanently disable") the MaxxAudioPro EQ settings for the Dell Audio driver -
1. Right-click on the Dell Audio icon on the task bar to bring up the control panel screen.
2. Click on "Speaker/Headphone" tab.
This takes you to the MaxxAudioPro EQ page.
3. Click the "Equalizer" button to the "off" position.
Now, all EQ settings are turned off, and will remain off until you choose to turn them back on again.
