Microsoft download(s) ?

Another question here..I have another computer that I bought a new Seagate hard drive for and loaded Windows 7 pro on it and that part is ok,but don't or most computers come with some kind of disc to load Microsoft office or word pro..etc etc ?

The computer is a mini tower Optiplex 990 that I bought refurbished and was running great until we had a major power outage in the area where I live and it freaked the computer out,it would barely turn on so I got the new hard drive and seems its running ok but believe I need Microsoft of some kind loaded onto it.

This computer has the i3 processor but I don't remember the specs,I think around 3.2-3.4 GHz and 8 gig of RAM.

I am hoping the experts here can possibly help me figure out what I need,I have a feeling that this needs to be done asap before this computer messes up more than it is..as always any info is Greatly appreciated !!

No they don't and havent for over 10 years now.

As early as Office 2007 microsoft started making the installer online download based.

Support for Office 2007 ended on October 10, 2017

If your system was purchased with office you would have a MPI card with the key on it.

Microsoft Product Identifier Cards key allows you to re download office and install.

download and install Office with your product key

Current versions use this link

https://setup.office.com/downloadoffice/

https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/sln115308/how-to-locate-the-microsoft-product-identifier-card-for-your-microsoft-office-2010-purchase?lang=en

As of May 1, 2013 there will no longer be an MPI card for Office 2010. If you purchase a new system after that date, you will be receiving an MPI card for Office 2013. This card is NOT backward-compatible with Office 2010 and only works for Office 2013.

Hi @moshpit903,

Just a reminder Microsoft ends support for Win7 come Jan. 2020.  One then needs to run their own antivirus security if online or use Win10.

You can't use Dell WIN7 SLP key to activate windows unless you installed with DELL OEM Media and the Device has WIN7 Key in BIOS.

You must use a LEGIT COA KEY.

Windows 7 is NOT Microsoft Office.

Okay so a few things...

1. Windows 7 Reaches End of Life in January 2020 and it is advisable to install Windows 10 instead of Windows 7 as it will become a security risk once Microsoft stop patching it.

2. The 25 Digit Product Key on the Windows 7 Pro CoA works with Windows 10 Installation Media. Ironically it does not work very well with Windows 7 Installation Media and if you use it you have to call Microsoft to activate by phone.

3. For Windows 7 you should activate using OEM System Locked Preinstallation and not the CoA. For this you should preferably use Dell Reinstallation Media which applies this activation automatically. It is possible to manually apply the OEM SLP to Retail Media however see here: https://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/converting-the-dell-windows-7-professional-reinstallation-usb-to-a-multi-edition-multi-lingual-windows-7-bootable-usb-for-all-retail-and-oem-licenses/

4. Not all Dell systems ship with Microsoft Office, if your system did ship with Microsoft Office, do you know the Suite and Version of Office e.g. Office 2010 Home and Student. Do you have your Office Product Key to hand?

Hi @Philip_Yip,

In #2 above, the 2nd time you mention Win7 in that pgh., you're referring to Win7 Home?

That guide starts with a Multi-Lingual Dell Pro Reinstallation USB and instructs how to convert it into a generic Windows 7 USB so one can install any Edition of Windows 7 and apply OEM SLP (Dell, Lenovo, HP, Acer, ASUS, etc. are covered). This assumes that the op has installed Windows 7 using a Retail ISO and should therefore ignore the part about Dell OEM customisation and simply just apply the Dell Windows 7 Pro OEM SLP. Of course installing Windows 10 using the Windows 7 CoA key or installing Windows 7 using the Dell Pro Skylake Reinstallation ISO would be better solutions: https://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/windows-oem-faqs-and-downloads/ The Dell Windows 7 Pro Skylake USB can also be converted to a Dell Windows Home Premium USB by modifying two files in notepad.
