Optiplex 7010 SFF | White Power Light | Full Fans | No Display output

Hello,

I have been having issues with my Optiplex 7010 lately as it sometimes boots, and sometimes doesn't.
A short while ago I found out it could be something with my RAM, as moving it around caused it to boot sometimes. It also never recognized two sticks at the same time. When I put in 2 x 4GB 1333Mhz in, the computer recognized just 4GB.

As a result I just pulled one stick out and it worked fine for a while, as long as I didn't shut it off.
It has been off for a while now and after powering it back on, I've got the same issue as always, but now with just one stick of memory, and moving it doesn't help.

The power light is solid white, suggesting it's booting fine... It doesn't beep, but the fans are at (almost) full speed. On power on they are at full speed, and ramp down for a few seconds untill holding a steady loud noise.

I have already removed the graphics card from the PC and have been using it with it's integrated graphics for a while, without any problems. Just to make clear: I'm connected to the VGA port on the MOBO.

It would be appreciated if any of you could offer some useful insight!

Much thanks,

Tristan

EDIT:
I just put in an second RAM stick, and now the Power LED Flashes amber, which indicates a bad PSU, if this is the case, I don't think it's worth it to fix it, or is it?

Everything you posted could easily mean a PSU problem was in the works. By removing 1 stick of RAM and the GPU, you were putting less of a load on the PSU. And yes the Amber blinking does signify a bad PSU.

As for worth it, the system is around 5 years old and the SFF is a very restrictive model for upgrades, etc. A new PSU runs anywhere from $60 US to $170 depending on the source. This is one of the sites, and this is another. But if you are a gamer and want a better gaming experience then it might be wise to consider replacing the system with a new and much faster and upgradeable system.

7010 Mini tower uses standard power supply.

This means you can buy an off the shelf replacement to fix that issue.

You can get the entire unit for less than the cost of windows alone.
