Optiplex 7080 with WD19 Docking Station not detecting monitors

Hi all,

We've got a 7080MT connected to a WD19 docking station solely so we can use a 3rd monitor with this system.  The docking station and/or computer doesn't seem to be detecting any monitors attached to the docking station.  The other functions of the docking station are working (USB devices are detected, ethernet is available through the docking station)

We've got 2 1080p HDMI monitors attached to the 7080, and a 3rd 1080p HDMI monitor attached to the WD19.

What we've tried:

1. I thought maybe the computer wouldn't support a third monitor, so I disconnected one from the 7080, and that made no difference.  i.e. 1 the one in the 7080 worked, but the one from the docking station didn't.

2. Tried both DP ports in the docking station as well as the HDMI port in the docking station, no change.

3. Connected the 3rd monitor directly to the 7080 (to make sure the monitor wasn't dead) and it pulled up fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

7080 MT spec mentions video:

• Two DisplayPort 1.4 ports (rear)
• One VGA Port/DisplayPort 1.4 Port/HDMI 2.0b Port/ USB 3.2
Gen2 Type-C Port with Alt-mode (optional)

the spec did not mention anything of getting video from front USB type C port.

are you connecting the docking station to the front USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port (front), assuming you did not order the option rear 3rd video port.  would it be possible that the front USB C port of 7080 does not have video signal feed to it by Dell's motherboard design, although technically USB C can carry multi format signals including video.

If you still can not solve the issue and really want a third monitor video port, consider adding a discrete video card.

Thanks for the reply.  This is actually a 7080 MicroTower with intel integrated graphics, no 3rd video port option.  The docking station is connected to the USB-C port on the front.

Would this computer support daisy chained displayport?  If I had a monitor with a DP in and DP out?
