Optiplex 9010 RAM issue

Hi,

I have an Optiplex 9010 (i7-3770) that should support up to 32GB of DDR3, either DDR3 1333 or DDR3 1600, according to this:

https://www.dell.com/support/article/ch/de/chdhs1/sln152123/dell-optiplex-memory-compatibility-guide?lang=en

When I use DDR3 1600 I experience no problem (3x 8GB = 24GB, I don't have more DDR* 1600 modules to test up to 32GB).

When I use DDR3 1333 I cannot use more than 16GB total (2x 8GB). Whatever I add more (2GB modules) leads to a boot failure. No boot, black screen and power button blinks orange (2 blinks - pause - 2 blinks - pause - and repeat).

I don't understand what is going on and how this is possible. I tested many combinations of DDR3 modules, all of them work well as long as I stay below the 16GB "limit".

Please help.

Best,

no using matched certified RAM (DDR) it can in fact fail,  and for the density rules.

stated clearly in the data sheet at intel.com for you CPU.

that is the MMC/IMC rules there logic in the PCU sets that best rules. not dell. then dell BIOS may also, not allow certain memory types.

try Crucial yet, certified class memory not GENERIC
