Optiplex AUDIO with BLUETOOTH! $5 ! ~ Windows 10

As reported in many other posts here at DELL:  MANY OPTIPLEX "Display Ports" deliver decent VIDEO,  but sadly, too many  OPTIPLEX HAVE NO AUDIO internally "wired" or decoded for that Port!  

This BLUETOOTH approach is working on my OPTIPLEX 760 and I've been testing it 24/7 for two days.  I see do see reasons why this approach won't work for others.

As mentioned, this is a WIN 10 Pro 64 Operating System!  Older Windows and other Operating Systems WILL require different drivers methinks... 

YOU many need to select a different Adapter that SPECIFIES that it WILL work with your O.S!  Be careful what you order... here we GO!

The BLUETOOTH ADAPTER I actually purchased were  eBay: 123664484270 for $3.61 (total) from California.  It was listed as "NEW"... They were received quickly ~ all in new packages.

*** INSTALLATION

1. The BLUETOOTH was inserted with WIN 10 running... It actually installed itself! 

2. Turn your BLUETOOTH DEVICE/SPEAKER/DEVICE  "ON" now...

3. From MENU (PRESS 'WIN Flag' Key)...  Type:  "Printers and Scanners"

4. Now Select "Bluetooth and Other Devices"...  now select: "Add Bluetooth or other Device"

I want to say again, WINDOWS 10 may be the BIG reason I had a easy install?... Win 10 does include many assorted drivers and older Windows or other Operating Systems may require other drivers?  Even with proper Drivers, your System and setup (devices) may require more massage?

Your BLUETOOTH DEVICE  should be found quickly!  My first BLUETOOTH speaker did not appear and never did.  My second speaker happens to be a "OontZ"... I turned it on, did another SCAN and BINGO!  THERE it was and Audio Joy returned... Huzzzzah!

*** Can't tell you why, but your new BLUETOOTH ICON is hidden just above the clock... find it and RIGHT-CLICK on it for BLUETOOTH Control! ***

My point is ~ YOUR  install/BLUETOOTH device may not "connect" with your first try!...  Try a different BLUETOOTH device.  

***IF you power your BLUETOOTH  OFF, restart your BLUETOOTH 'connection' via your ICON. 

I am pleased to relay that I can wander from room to room with very good results... As walls between the OPTIPLEX 760 began to add so did dropouts... It was easy to discover where BLUETOOTH communications ends.  I am enjoying "MUSIC" from two rooms away as I type.

Also my Google Mini's, a cellphone and two other devices also appeared with my first scan for BLUETOOTH devices, but I didn't want to interface with them... Some day I will see what happens if I try a connect?

More AUDIO Notes:

My FIRST Audio joy arrived with a used PCIe card providing *TWO HDMI ports*.  After connecting a "large flat screen TV" HDMI, I was delighted with the picture AND GOOD Stereo AUDIO!  Sadly, after three weeks the fan suddenly got very noisy, so out with the card and away went my audio.

It's still a mystery why DELL decided NOT to use HDMI 'Standard' connectors and cables?  And WHY NO Audio to the DP Connector?  Lot's of encoding/decoding takes place with almost everything HDMI; so I suspect DELL wiring modifications to the DP Connector for Audio ~ is out of the question.  Here is the DP Male mating connector:

I know it's difficult to see, but those are not  'standard HDMI'... there is a beveled corner at the lower right.  One official name: "DP Display Port Male To HDMI Female HD Converter Adapter HDMI Cable".  It's about 7 inches long and about $4.50 new.

*** ANOTHER AUDIO PROJECT IN PROGRESS

Now the 760 USB Ports do supply audio!  I just received a: "Lenovo ThinkPad USB 3.0 Display Link Docking Station DU9019D1 Dual DVI Ports"  It provides 2 HDMI OUTPUTS... but WILL they include AUDIO content?  I dunno?! 

Lenovo STATIONAlso note this is not my exact model ~ it's to give you some idea of the layout... that 'lump' at the upper left is the supply ~ connector.  SEE my exact model here:

"Lenovo ThinkPad USB 3.0 Display Link Docking Station DU9019D1 Dual DVI Ports"  eBay: 123744491464.  Used they are $10.99... but have NO supplies!  Get a "NEW" Power Supply for $6 eB: 132882975115 (also what I ordered)... 

It looks rather amazing... 1 USB 3.0 IN and ALL those outputs!  I gotta get it powered up...   

My model OUTPUTS include:  2 HD "DP" Display Ports, 5 USB 3.0 ports, plus a CAT-5 connector and earphone connector too.  My Optiplex 760 has USB 2.0 outputs and I am not expecting this 'station' to convert my 2.0 to USB 3.0...
