Upgrade OptiPlex 5055 Ryzen with 2700x

OptiPlex 5055 Ryzen CPU

Hello,
 
 I would like to upgrade my Optiplex 5055 with a Ryzen 2700x.
 I have read that the chipset is compatible, and I have upgraded to the latest BIOS.
  I would like to know if it will accept the CPU before purchasing, as the spec sheet is appears very outdated

Ok, so Dell support leads me  to believe it will accept the 2700x cpu:

The spec sheet here makes no mention of any CPU higher than the Ryzen 5 Pro 2400G. And looking at your chat with tech support it would appear that they deferred to a local shop to make the call. The question is what CPU the chipset on the Dell MB will support. OEM MB specs and chipset microcode are not like your average MB you can purchase locally for a home built. A local shop may try a CPU installation to confirm compatibility but I have not seen any definitive information on it.

It won't work.  Dell does not update their BIOS or AGESA code ever. Dell would not do that because doing this BREAKS the bios for the 7TH gen A Series cpus aka A6 A8 A10 A12.   Other vendors that DO support the update also note this limitation.  Most vendors now support Ryzen 5000 series including 5600G, 5700G, 5800X3D on all chipsets including A320M.  Which is why I updated my ASUS PRIME A320M-K board and got a 5700G CPU so I work with everything now including Windows 11.  7010 tower , case and psu works fine with ther ASUS Motherboard.

Used 7010 case and power supply, modded case and 1 motherboard standoff that was not right.

Made a sleeper 7010 AMD 5700G  Like Dawid Does Tech stuff did.

Thats required to support The AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 2700, launched in September 2018.  Ryzen 7  Zen+ (Pinnacle Ridge) architecture requires updated AGESA code.

This version of AGESA is important for Windows 11 users because it fixes a performance stuttering issue caused by the OS's frequent polling of the fTPM. The new AGESA version is also preordained for AMD 300-series chipset motherboards, where it adds official (stable) support for Ryzen 5000 series processors, allowing those on the 5-year-old platform to enjoy an IPC boost of up to 60%. (Zen 3 vs. Zen). 1.2.0.7 is also said to fix certain stability issues with the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, as well as permit BClk overclocking on the chip as long as the CPU does not draw more than 1.35 V in the Vcore voltage domain.

user benchmark shows the highest validated Ryzen 7 cpu for 5055 is 1800x.

in short no evidence that a zen+ cpu such as 2700x is supported in 5055.
