Upgraded memory for a Dell Optiplex 755
I would like to add two 8 GB sticks of RAM into a Optiplex 755 computer. It is currently running 64- bit Windows Professional OS, Service Pack 1. Can I use 8 GB in this computer?

You can actually use 4 gig sticks of a SPECIFIC LOW DENSITY Vendor. Patriot PSD24G8002
HOWEVER the cost of the DIMMS is more than a new Computer with DDR4.
https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-General/16GB-Ram-4x4gb-Supported-Optiplex-755-and-XPS-420/m-p/3320366
Patriot Signature 4GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Mfr P/N PSD24G8002
Totally Not worth buying due to scalping cost $160 to $250 each dimm. Even at $80 a dimm you could use the money to buy a newer DDR3 system that takes 32 gigs or more ram.

They say AMD because its HIGH DENSITY Ram not compatible with ANYTHING INTEL. AMD Chipset Memory RAM is High Density. It requires AMD CPU AND CHIPSET to Work . It will NEVER Work with Any Intel CPU Processor, Chipset, Motherboard
You cannot use that ram because it will NEVER work EVER.
16GB Ram (4x4gb) for Optiplex 755 and XPS 420 is VERY specific.
Patriot PSD24G8002

Single and Dual Rank LOW DENSITY INTEL compatible is REQUIRED.
QUAD RANK HIGH DENSITY IS NOT EVER WORKING.,

You could put 4X2GB (8GB) if you don't have the ultra-small form factor. These machines can take 8GB of DDR2 RAM total.

Can I use the 4gb ddr2 DIMMs that have 16 chips on either sides? Like these:-
https://www.daraz.pk/4gb-large-capacity-ddr2-memory-module-800mhz-fast-data-transmission-ram-ddr2-4gb-for-amd-i156246456-s1322142799.html

I don't know why, but the suppliers say, "for AMD systems".

I'd like to know too.
I believe the sticks with 16 chips on each side are 2rx4. I've heard they have issues sometimes with Intel though, which is probably why the vendor says AMD only.
Not % sure yet, but I think we need 4gb 2rx8 sticks to get a 16gb setup to work in it.
