AIC-7899 SCSI-controller disappears efter Perc 3/Di firmware A13/A14 upgrade???

Dear all

Although I'm from Denmark I will try my luck here.

I am currently in a process of upgrading a PowerEdge 4400 server (Service Tag: 35VH70J) from WinNT4 Server to 2003 Standard server (clean install). Can I use Server Assistant CD ver. 7.4 from a PE4600 (PE4400 and Windows Server 2003 is listed on the CD)?

I have upgraded System Bios to A11 and ESM to 5.5.

The original Perc 3/Di Firmware was 2.5 and I have without problems upgraded to 2.7.1 (A10).

However, when I upgrade to 2.8 (both A13 and A14) the AIC-7899 SCSI controller disappears from boot-up post. Only AIC-7880 is shown.

Even NT4 complains that a device is missing. And from the SCSI Adapter the AIC-7899 is missing. I have updated drivers to 2.8 versions)

Usually it boots in the following sequence:

1. Perc 3/Di (RAID 5 array, Channel 1, 5x36Gb)

2. AIC-7899 (Usually a 100/200Gb LTO External tape drive, but has been moved to a temporary server)

3. AIC-7880 (NEC CD-ROM drive)

When I downgraded the firmware to A10, the AIC-7899 comes back at post screen.

In all cases system bios is set to:

Onboard RAID: RAID

Channel A: RAID

Channel B: SCSI

Secondary SCSI: On

How can I solve the problem?

Thanks...

Regards, Martin
