Dell Poweredge R210 II not liking Tripplite Ps2 to USB adapter for KVM
system specs
windows server 2008 R2 standard with pack 1
intel xeon cpu 3.10ghz
8g ram
64bit os
named Chaos for good reasons
this server controls our HVAC system for 3 buildings. its all usb which was unknown to me when it was purchased a year ago. on the dell site the district i work for purchased the tripplite ps2 to usb adapter to use with a tripplite kvm. this was done in order to clean up the usb keyboard and mouse that were being plugged into the front of the one u server in the cluster. upon getting this i plugged it in and it seems to find it. however when you try to use the mouse pad the serach window comes up and it goes nonrespnsive. nothing responds at all. i do know it works on 7pro. and yes i did try it on another 08 box, same results.
any ideas?

did some checking on mine, heres the part number for my cable U219-000-R, this is a tripplite part number.
the setup is basically what i have here, minus the difference in the kvm equipment
tripplite kvm with tripplite cables going to servers. only on this dell server i have the tripplite adapter on the end of the cable going to the dell server.
when i first installed this cable it did the found new hardware, installing new hardware, hardware ready to use. when i go to move the mouse cursor a search window comes up. almost like a keyboard shortcut was done instead of moving the mouse. so i did a restart on the server and was able to use the keyboard. but as soon as i got to the desktop and moved the mouse it did the same thing. even put this on a 2k3R2 box and i got the same thing. the 2k3r2 is 32bit. but yet it works on 7Pro 32bit.

ok, so here is what I have, Avocent PS/2 sip, connected to the Triplite PS2 to usb adapter, which then connects to the USB port on the R210ii. The video goes straight from the system to the Avocent sip's video cable.
The Avocent sip connects to the dell 2161DS KVM unit via a network cable.
I am currently installing Windows 2008R2 Sp1 on the R210ii and the mouse and keyboard are behaving properly.
The model of the triplite ps2 to usb dongle is B015-000
