Poweredge 2950 not display coming after restarting

Hi 

 i have poweredge 2950 .after restarting the server no display coming on the screen .have tried RAm as-well as CPU but still the same .

the server look like its working as there s light on the HDD but the screen is black and not able to ping it to access it remotely 

any suggestion ???/

Chkoba,

I would start by taking the server to a MInimum to Post configuration. That is removing everything from the server but the following;

  • System board
  • Processor (with heatsink) in socket 1
  • Two sticks of memory in memory slots 1 and 2
  • 1 power supply
  • Control panel (to turn on system)
  • Sideplane
  • Both PCI risers; PCI-e in center slot, (PCI-e or PCI-X) in left slot  

Once everything is removed then attempt to power up. If the display returns then add the removed hardware back to the server individually, until the issue reappears. This will identify the hardware causing the issue. If the server shows a display and never repeats the issue, then likely the issue was due to a poor connection.
