Poweredge AS180 firmwware update failed
Hi,
For my AS180 KVM i've tried to apply the latest firmware R173924, via RS232 cable from w2k r2 64bit.
The update returned the time-out error while upgrading; now my kvm no longer works.
I've tried running the update again and again... same error
If you have any advice.
thank you

Hello
The firmware update can take several minutes to complete. If you have issues with a firmware update then my first suggestion would be to wait before doing anything that may interrupt the update. I would wait at least one hour.
If the KVM does not come back online after an hour then I would restart the device without disconnecting power. If restarting the device does not allow it to come back online then I would drain flea power by disconnecting power from the device for about one minute. If the device still fails to come online then I would reset factory defaults and drain flea power again. If it still fails to come online then I would disconnect everything from the KVM and repeat the steps for draining flea power and resetting the device.
You should be able to locate what options are available for resetting and restarting your KVM in the manual:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/poweredge-180as/manuals
If the device still fails to initialize then I would try updating it from another system and another method if possible. If the 180AS supports update through the embedded web server and you can access the EWS then attempt an update through there.
In order for the system to update the firmware the current firmware on the device must initialize. If the current firmware on the device was corrupted or deleted during the previous firmware update attempt without applying the new firmware then the system cannot be updated through normal processes.
Thanks
