R710 Intrusion Detection Alarm

Hello Everyone,

We have a couple Dell R710 servers that have the "intrusion detection" alarm active. I would like to disable the alarm if possible as the chassis covers are secure. I am assuming the plastic plunger is broken which would require a riser card change. Not interested in swapping out a good riser card to fix a small piece of plastic. Is there a way to disable the alarm? We are uanble to find any settings in the BIOS that would/could disable this uneeded alarm.

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

Hi Virtual_D

In BIOS, you can choose to disable the F1/F2 prompt which will eventually disabled all the prompt up messages. Please take note, if you do disable this option, real error messages will be disabled too.

F1/F2 Prompt on Error(Enabled default)

Enables the system to halt on errors during POST, which allows the user to observe events that may scroll by unnoticed during normal POST. The user can press

to continue or to enter the System Setup program.

CAUTION: When setting this option to Disabled, the system will not halt if an error occurs during POST. Any critical errors will be displayed and logged in the system event log.

Here's the link for R710 hardware manual, you can refer to Sytem Setup Options:-

Do let us know how it goes!

An Emergency Lighting system is a crucial accompanying system alongside the fire alarm which allows a directional exit route for people who are in the building following an alarm trigger. The emergency lights also activate after power loss due to heavy duty batteries which are tested regularly.
