Array Manager for PE4600 PERC 3/DI?

I can't seem to find the right download to install an array manager for this system. I got the sys used and have installed the retail version of Win Server 2003, so there are no Dell utilities on the system. The downloads area shows a link under systems management for Dell OpenManage Array Manager, but the only thing there is a text file note and a patch, not an installer. In the SCSI/RAID section of the downloads, there's a link for the Adaptec Controller Management software, but I installed this and I don't see where there is way to launch a GUI to manage the array. It looks more like an snmp agent and command line interface. Anyways, if someone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. -- tom c

Cool, I've got it installed now. Thanks. It's not showing anything about my containers however. I installed, rebooted, did a rescan, ran the utilities, still nothing. The controller is there, and one channel, but no storage containers. Any ideas? Thanks again. -- tom c

Go to Dell Console Utilities instead of selecting Console and check you have all the required drivers and firmware levels.

I launched the Array Manager Utilities. It tells me on the Windows tab that the disk mgmt service is running with green lights. On the versions tab, it tells me I have Internet Explorer 6.0 installed and that Dell PERC 2 FAST Application is NOT installed, but it considers that a Pass for the test. When I brought this server up, I installed the latest RAID controller firmware from the Dell download site. What to do from here? Do I need to install FAST? Thanks for your continued assistance. -- tom c

Do you have a PERC displayed in the Utlities section with required and installed versions of firmware?
No you don't install FAST.

And here's the RAID controller driver I have installed, in case that's helpful:

Oh, I see you'll have to capitalize the JPG in the earlier links I sent you, sorry for that oversight. So here are those links again:

Here's what I have in the Array Manager Utilities Windows tab:

I notice that if I UNcheck SCSI Subsystem and Apply, I get nothing listed for the local server in the Array Manager Console. With SCSI Subsystem checked I get, this in the Array Manager Console:

What next?

Check out the version tab of Array Manager Utilities. This will indicate the required driver/firmware levels.
You should see the PERC in there. If not then you have the wrong driver installed. Examining your post
it shows you have the Microsoft driver and not the Dell driver.

OK, so to wrap up then, you gotta have the DELL driver for the RAID controller installed for the Array Manager to do its thing. Apparantly the Windows driver works fine for the basic controller functionality but it does not have the instrumentation required to support Array Manager. Thanks for your kind assistance! -- tom c
